NDC Zongo Caucus to work towards electoral victory

Alhaji Yussif Captain, National Coordinator of Zongo Caucus of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has reiterated the commitment of the Caucus to ensuring victory for the party in election 2012.

He said the caucus would embark on a door-to-door campaign throughout the country, to ensure that the NDC was retained in power in December, to enable the party to continue with its 'Better Ghana Agenda' under President John Dramani Mahama.

Alhaji Captain said this when the caucus paid a courtesy call on Sheik Musah Abdul-Kadir, an Imam and opinion leader at Mamobi in the Ayawaso East Constituency of the Greater Accra Region, in Accra at the weekend.

He said that the government in its quest to prioritize education, was currently paying salaries to Arabic teachers in most English and Arabic schools in the Greater Accra and Ashanti regions, which would soon be expanded to other regions.

Alhaji Captain said education remained the bedrock for development, and government was ensuring that basic education became accessible to all Ghanaian children.

He called on Ghanaians to vote massively for President John Mahama, who had promised jobs, peace, progress, stability and development, in Election 2012. Alhaji Captain, who is also a member of the National Hajj Committee, promised a hitch-free pilgrimage for Muslims to Saudi Arabia this year.

Alhaji Hudu Yahaya, National Vice Chairman of the NDC, said the legacy of the late President John Evans Atta Mills of investing in Ghanaians and creating job opportunities would be continued by President John Dramani Mahama.

He said the NDC Government would continue to deliver on its 'Better Ghana Agenda' and that over the past three and-a-half years, the government had demonstrated its commitment to improving social, economic and political infrastructure of the country.

He said Ghana would continue to live in peace and maintain its international acclaimed status as the beacon of democracy and peace in African.

Sheik Musah Abdul-Kadir asked politicians to put the interest of Ghana first and desist from making unguarded statements, which could destabilize the country.

He said there was the need to improve educational infrastructure in Zongo communities and that Zongo youth deserved better education to enable them to acquire skills and knowledge needed for national development.

Sheik Abdul-Kadir prayed for good health for President Mahama, Vice President Amissah Authur, Ministers of State and Ghanaians at large.
