You dare not tarnish Prof. Frimpong Boateng’s reputation – Group warns naysayers

Dr. Prof. Kwabena Frimpong Dr. Prof. Kwabena Frimpong

A group named Members of friends of Atta Mills and Prof. Mills Movement has jumped to the defense of the Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Prof. Kwabena Frimpong Boateng following reports of some missing 500 excavators.

In a press release signed by the Acting National Coordinator, Gabriel Agah, and copied to GhanaWeb, the group promised to deal with persons plotting 'evil', as well as tarnishing the minister's hard-earned reputation.

"We want to issue a strong warning to all persons who are trying to destroy the hardworking minister’s credibility to stop or else we will deal with them".

They also asked President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to keep supporting the minister in his quest to fight galamsey in the country.

It will be recalled that GALAMSTOP, a taskforce set up by the Small-Scale Mining Association to fight illegal mining seized about 500 excavators from illegal miners under the supervision of Prof. Frimpong Boateng who doubles as the Chairman of the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining (IMCIM) last year.

It was later reported that most of the seized machines kept at various district assemblies had gone missing and government has begun investigations into the matter.

Please read below the full statement

Members of friends of Atta Mills and Prof Mills Movement want to state it clear that there are some people who has been contracted to tarnish the image and the credibility of Minister of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Dr. Prof. Kwabena Frimpong Boateng; this professor who has used his own resources to build a hospital for Ghana. This same professor who has trained medical doctors to become heart surgeons. His reputation is unquestionable, his credibility is unquestionable.

Therefore, we the members of the above-mentioned groups will like to use this opportunity to say that the professor has done nothing wrong. Therefore, all those who are trying to tarnish his image to stop.

As far as a constitutionally elected president who has the power to hire and fire is committed to fight the galamsey menace, we will like to call on the president to give more powers and maximum support to the minister to enable him to fight the menace of galamsey in this country.

The minister has performed very well and he needs the support of all Ghanaians irrespective of the party affiliate to help him succeed in fighting the galamsey menace.

We, therefore, want to issue a strong warning to all persons who are trying to destroy the hardworking minister’s credibility to stop or else we will deal with them.

Thank you. God bless Ghana
