The Importers and Exporters Association of Ghana (IEAG) wants government to give them representation on the board of directors on a number of government agencies.

The executive secretary of the association, Samsom Asaki Awingobit speaking to Onua Business News says the association with a membership of over 27000 is key stakeholders when it comes to issues on imports and exports.

He is therefore of the view that having representation on boards of organizations such as the Ghana Exim bank , the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority, the Ghana Shippers Authority, the Ghana Maritime Authority and the Ghana Airport Authority will give them the opportunity to make the necessary inputs in formulating policies on imports and exports.

The association which has already met President Akufo-Addo , also wants government to review the ECOWAS Common External Tariff as well as the special import levy tax imposed on imported goods.
