Vice President Amissah-Arthur checks his name on Voters‘ Register

Vice President Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur, on Thursday checked his name on the Biometric Voters Registration list and left satisfied that his data as stated in the books were correct.

The Vice President arrived ordinarily with few security details at the Accra High School Registration Centre, within the Korley Klottey Constituency, in Accra.

In a short while he was assisted by a registration official and compared the data on his voters’ registration card to that on the voters’ list.

His name, picture, date of birth, polling centre and number were confirmed.

Vice President Amissah- Arthur described the process as very simple, and urged all Ghanaian electorate to go and check on their names.

The exhibition of the voters’ register is part of the efforts of Ghana’s Electoral Commission at making Election 2012 credible, transparent, free and fair.

The 10-day exercise, which started from Saturday September 1st and will end on Tuesday, September 10, will afford the over 13 million eligible Ghanaians captured during the Biometric Voter Registration, the chance to verify and correct details provided during the exercise.

The Exhibition exercise is the final stage of cleaning the Register by removing the names of people who might have passed on; names of minors and non-Ghanaians, if proof is provided.
