Top NPP heavyweights in Ashanti to vie for positions on Saturday

Kumasi, Nov 3, GNA - Three candidates, including the incumbent will contest the chairman post for the New Patriotic Party Ashanti regional chairman on Saturday, November 5.

Other regional executive members would be elected but the fiercest contest would be the chairmanship position, where Mr George Ayisi-Boateng and Mr Yaw Amankwaa, all heavyweights are battling the incumbent, Mr F.F. Anto.

The campaign, even though looks silent and peaceful, the contestants have been crisscrossing the length and breath of the region marketing their agenda and vision to the constituencies. The state is therefore set for a tight election.

The position of First Vice-Chairman will be between the incumbent, Mr Osei-Assibey Antwi and Nana Owusu Ansah while Mr Bobbie Ansah, Dr Osefredu Asubonteng and Nana Wiafe Ababio will vie for the position of Second Vice-Chairmen.

Mr Kwaku Kwarteng is challenging Mr Samuel Kofi Cudjoe, the incumbent for the position of Regional Secretary, while Alhaji Ben Abdallah and Mr Kwabena Adjei are vying for the position of Regional Organiser.

The only executive member so far without a challenger is Mr Kwaku Atiemo, treasurer.

Four people, Mr. Kennedy Kankam, Mr Fiifi Eshun, Mr Alfred Owusu and Nana Boateng are contesting the position of the regional youth organiser.

Miss Georgina Osei-Tutu and Madam Mary Brobbey would contest the position of women's organizer.
