Former President and NDC Flagbearer hopeful, John Dramani Mahama has urged the new batch of regional executives of the party to gear up for the humongous task ahead of them having been chosen by party members to drive the party to triumph.

In a congratulatory post on his Facebook wall, Mr. Dramani, while commending the newly elected executives, reminded them about the fact that their appointment is a big step for the party as far as reorganizing and fixing its cracks ahead of the 2020 polls is concerned.

“I have spoken to our newly elected Regional Chairmen and asked them to pass on my congratulatory wishes to all who won positions in the Regional Executive elections. The real work has just begun and we must all put our shoulders to the wheel going forward”, he wrote.

Mahama also encouraged the defeated candidates in Saturday’s elections, maintaining the role each of them has to play in ensuring the NDC regains power in 2020. He further urged the new executives to rope in all contenders whenever necessary for excellence.

“ I have called and expressed my personal message of encouragement to many of the candidates who were not successful in the elections. As I have always said, there are no losers in this contest. Our great party, the NDC, is the winner. It is time for the new executives to reach out and bring everyone on board for victory in election 2020”, he added.

The National Democratic Congress held its ninth Greater Accra Regional Delegates at the Central Cafeteria of the University of Ghana, Legon, Accra on Saturday, September 1, 2018.

Over one thousand delegates converged at the venue to elect regional officers, who would steer affairs of the Party for the next four years.

In all, 76 candidates vied for the various regional officers’ portfolios.
