Suhum Imam advocates clean December elections

Alhaji Hudu Idrisu, Imam of Suhum in the Eastern Region has called on Ghanaians to do everything possible to ensure clean and peaceful presidential and parliamentary elections.

He told the Ghana News Agency in an interview that it is important for the citizenry to take precautionary measures against any action that would undermine national peace and stability before, during and after the General Election.

The 72-year-old blind Imam said it was the expectation of all Moslems that the proliferation of political activists in the country would impact positively on the people of Ghana.

He advocated that the Electoral Commission (EC) should out with a blueprint on peaceful elections devoid of chaos and confusion, to ensure that excellence and standards are not sacrifice on the altar of the average quality of the political parties.

The Imam noted that the EC had laid a solid foundation for the political parties to move the country into the arena of international repute and recognition of the solid national electoral process.**
