Rampaging National Security ‘hoodlums’ a stain on your Dagbon legacy - Franklin Cudjoe to Akufo-Addo

Franklin Cudjoe, President of IMANI Africa Franklin Cudjoe, President of IMANI Africa

Founding President of IMANI Africa, Mr Franklin Cudjoe has said the legacy of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as a peacemaker marked by his work in Dagbon is being tainted by the recent news of violence by National Security ‘hoodlums’, MyNewsGh.com has filed.

Mr Cudjoe was reacting to series of development following the controversial by-election in Ayawaso West Wuogon in which some foot-soldiers and functionaries of the opposition NDC were assaulted by uniformed vigilantes.

Reacting in particular to the assault of Sammy Gyamfi by Nana B of the NPP, Franklin Cudjoe said the action “is not good!” adding that “Under no circumstances should anyone be assaulted for speaking their mind though. The video is worrying. This madness must end NOW!!” He pointed out.

In a post sighted by MyNewsGh.com from the influential Think-tank leader, he argues that the good name of Akufo-Addo could suffer for it.

Mr Cudjoe also warned Kan Dapaah, Minister of National Security to be up and doing.

“My brother Kan Dapaah, Minister of National Security, looke like some hoodlums want to destroy your name. Please speak up. I know you won’t sanction the madness we saw yesterday. And Mr. President, just after a week of great news in Dagbon, this incident and the others, assassinations, cold blood murders, destructive party vigilante attacks and kidnappings look set to damage your enviable legacy.” He said.

“Also please calm your loyalists so they won’t solidify the views gaining currency that your party folks are more intolerant than we have ever experienced.” He added.

We deployed them

As MyNewsGH.com reported, Minister of State in charge of National Security, Mr Bryan Acheampong took full responsibility for the action of the “boys” in National Security outfit, stating that they are his boys and work with the National Security.

According to him, the men were deployed based on reliable information to his outfit concerning the by-election at the Bawalashie polling centre.

“We deployed all kinds of security forces in operation depending on the information we had from the polling grounds, there were some in uniforms and some in plain clothes. This is not a new directive, it happens all the time,” he stated.

The Member of Parliament [MP] for Abetifi Constituency in the Eastern Region when asked whether his men deployed were as well masked, he admitted and said; “Absolutely, you saw them there, they were not hiding but security men. You see when we get information we need to prepare for the intelligence that we have received to deploy men who are with us, and some of them had mask. Is not like they came from somewhere or some of them were engaged and put at places to cause violence, they were part of the security personnel we deployed yesterday on the grounds”.
