The disposition of National NDC Chairman, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo in a leaked tape that has taken over the headlines only goes to buttress earlier reservations about his competence and clear-headedness as leader of the opposition NDC party, outspoken academic, Professor Ransford Gyampo has said.

Speaking on the issue on Joynews’ Newsfile program Saturday, Mr. Gyampo who was appalled by the words spoken by Mr. Ofosu Ampofo revealed that he has always had doubts about his personality and capacity to lead the party.

Making such inciting and ‘politically buffoonery statements he maintained, only confirmed his earlier position.

The University of Ghana Political Science lecturer maintained that persons including the Former Attorney General, Mould Iddrisu and Dan Abodakpi would have been better positioned to lead the party with more sober ideas.

“Knowing the voice and hearing Kwaku Boahen also say that it is true, makes me feel that we are engendered and it corroborates my earlier position about the election of Mr. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo as the Chairman of the NDC because I felt that he wasn’t that sober a personality to lead”.

“I felt you needed a Dan Abodakpi or Mould Iddrisu would have served that capacity as a National chairman more than what we have today so I was not surprised that he went about saying all those things that attempt to incite and embarked on all those politically buffoonery statements and speeches that have the potency of plunging the country into chaos”.

Mr. Gyampo also insisted that leadership of the Church of Pentecost, of which Mr. Ofosu Ampofo is a leading member, takes keen interest in the issue and take necessary action subsequently to serve as a deterrent to other members of the church.

“In Ghana, whatever happens, we just pray that another issue comes in to torpedo it and we’ll relegate that into the background. I won’t be surprised that this issue will die a natural death”.

“He is an elder of the Church of Pentecost that I belong to, and loud and clear that Apostle Eric Nyamekye must take note of this. His vision for the Church to take over nations for Christ will never be realised if we don’t do much to rethink the eldership of such a personality within the church, it is not a good example for the other members of the church”.
