NaBCO a clear extension of National Service – Kwesi Pratt

Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr, has described the current government’s National Builders Corps (NaBCO) as an extension of the mandatory one year National Service.

According to him, NaBCO will be discriminating if it fails to include all unemployed graduates.

Speaking to Kaakyire Ofori Ayim on Atinka AM Drive, Kwesi Pratt Jnr, explained that the program will only be devoid of discrimination if the government makes it clear that it is an extension of the national service policy.

He refuted the claim that fresh graduates lack work experience, prompting the establishment of NACOB. According to him, what graduates lack is jobs.

President Akufo-Addo today May 1, 2018, launched the Nation Builders Corps (NaBCO), a programme structured to tackle graduate unemployment in Ghana.

The programme has been designed under seven modules.

The Feed Ghana module where the graduates will serve as Agric extension officers to help our farmers.

Educate Ghana module where graduates will teach science and mathematics in High schools.

The Revenue Ghana module will take graduates into the Ghana Revenue Authority to help in the collection of revenue.

Heal Ghana module where nurses who have been sitting home without jobs after school will be employed.

The Enterprise Ghana module where graduates will be assigned to various private sector enterprises for jobs and skills training as well as development.

The Digitize Ghana module will see graduates being sent to the IT sector for the Digital Ghana agenda, the transformation agenda, where they will be attached to the NIA or to the Ghana Post or to the Birth and Death Registry or to the Land Registry.

Then, the Governance Ghana module where graduates will be attached to various local authorities.
