The Deputy General Secretary of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Nana Obiri Boahen has indicated that the party neither approves nor supports mayhem caused by its vigilante groups.

According to him, the party has not encouraged any vigilante groups to take the laws into their own hands.

He stated that the leadership of the party will hold a meeting to discuss the way forward on the Delta Force assault saying the party did not instigate Delta Force to protest against the appointment of the Ashanti Regional Security Coordinator.

Vigilante groups of the party including Invincible Forces, Delta Force, Kandarhar boys have been assaulting government workers and seizing state installations ever since the NPP took over power.

On Friday, George Agyei was manhandled by Delta Force at the Regional Security Coordinating Council (RCC) in Kumasi.

Speaking with Lantam Papanko on Ultimate Breakfast Show, he said the party will make known its decision to the public after the meeting.

‘We will meet, discuss and we will come out with our position. But for the time being, the party has never approved, assisted, instigated, supported, facilitated, encouraged any individual to take the laws of this country into his/her hands,’ he explained.

Asked when the party will meet on the latest assault, he retorted, ‘you want the party to tell the whole world when we are going to meet and discuss certain issues, well if you want the time limit, in the fullness of time’.

He called on the police to whip the crack on the vigilante groups saying it will be wrong for people to blame the NPP for the ongoing assault.

‘The buck stops with the police,’ he called.
