NPP grateful to God for Election Victory

Freddie Blay Freddie Blay

The Acting Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr Freddie Blay, says God is on the side of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Ado to make him one of the best presidents that a nation could ever have.

“Some people in this country never believed that Nana Addo could become the President but God has proven them wrong and I still believe that the battle ahead has been won already by the help of God," he said.

Mr Blay, who is also the former First Speaker of Ghana’s Parliament, was speaking at a thanksgiving service organised by the Western Regional branch of the NPP at the weekend to thank the Almighty God for giving them the overwhelming victory in the 2016 general election.

He commended the NPP executives in the region for their hard work that ensured victory for the party but added that the NPP was going to serve the people of Ghana with all humility.

“The elephant is big so every Ghanaian will have their share. More jobs are coming for the teeming unemployed youth," he said.

The Acting Chairman, therefore, appealed to the ministers of the gospel and the entire Christian community to continue to pray for the President and the Government for the strength and wisdom needed to govern the country.

Bishop Dr Kweku Botwey, the General Overseer of Christian Faith Church International, in an exhortation, advised all the ministers to serve Ghanaians diligently devoid of corruption, arrogance and nepotism.

He said the President could only fulfil his dreams of making Ghana a haven when party faithful did the right thing in their respective positions adding "we need to salvage Ghana from the doldrums it found herself currently."

The Bishop reminded them that winning elections was not the end in itself but the beginning of making the Government work to the benefit of the citizenry.

He said: “Rather let the light of the NPP so shine before all Ghanaians so that the people would see the party’s good deeds and praise the President who appointed you to your respective offices,” he said.

Various ministers led the gathering to pray for the nation, the President and all the other arms of government for the requisite knowledge to succeed in their respective fields.
