The Denmark Branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has reiterated its commitment to help the government of Ghana headed by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to deliver on his campaign promises made to Ghanaians.

According to the branch it is incumbent on them to ensure that this becomes a success in order for Ghanaians to renew the mandate of the party for another term in the 2020 elections. Outdooring its new crop of executives on 7th April at the swearing in ceremony in Copenhagen, Denmark after a successful elections held earlier on the 3rd of March 2018.

The ceremony saw Mr. Lawrence Ashong, its founding Chairman, hand over the reins of the party’s stewardship to the newly elected Chairman, Mr. Kennedy Adjei, and his team of young dynamic executives.

In his speech, Mr. Lawrence Ashong praised the electoral committee for a good work done. He then recounted the difficulty in getting NPP-Denmark started and ensuring its steady growth from humble beginnings, making contributions to both elections 2012 and 2016 in the process.

He proudly mentioned that, as its contribution towards the election 2016, our young branch supported two constituencies (Sissala East and Ablekuma Central) and thank God the NPP parliamentary candidates won both seats from the incumbent NDC candidates.

He thanked the entire NPP-Denmark membership for their support during his tenure and asked them to extend same to the new leadership. He expressed hope in the future of NPP-Denmark and went on to charge the new executives to apply themselves diligently to the ideals of the party and do more to help the party to retain power in 2020 to continue the solid work being done by the president, Nana Addo Dangkwa Akufo-Addo, and his team.

With the assistance of the branch’s Godfather, Mr. Sampson Akoto, Mr. Lawrence Ashong, who has become the life patron of the branch, swore the new Chairman and the new executives into office by administering the oath of office to them. Delivering the acceptance speech on behalf of the newly elected executives, Chairman Kennedy Adjei acknowledged the huge responsibility bestowed on him and the new crop of executives and assured party members of the dedication and commitment of his team to live up to expectation.

He thanked members for the massive show of confidence in the new executive team and outlined a four-point agenda that would guide the tenure of his mandate. He shed more light on the objectives that will characterize and engage their term of office. He indicated that it was the goal of the current executive team to strategically position NPP Denmark in order to become vibrant and relevant in the larger scheme of things of the NPP family.

Adding to the chairman’s speech, the vice chairman, Mr. Ahmed Antwi-Boampong, a P.hD fellow at Aalborg University in Denmark, assured members that he will ably assist the chairman to boost the appeal of the NPP in Denmark to enable the branch build a strong membership base.

He reiterated that NPP-Denmark, as an international branch of the party, remains resolutely committed to assisting the president to deliver on his campaign promises to help move Ghana beyond aid. The rest of the new executive members also assured members of their selfless services to the branch and the mother party.
