NDC urged to recognize the founding members of the party

Winneba, Sept 17, GNA - The leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has been urged to recognize the founding members of the party and involve them in its activities. Mr Kofi Mintah, a founding member and former Central Regional Chairman of the party who made the call, said the present situation which seemed to portray that the services of the founding members were not needed by the party was unfortunate.

Mr Mintah who spoke to the Ghana News Agency at Winneba, said the founding members sacrificed their time and resources to bring the party back to power and added that they needed recognition rather than dumping.

"Even Jesus who was the son of God demanded appreciation from the 10 lepers he cured," he said. Mr Mintah advised the leaders to be proactive in solving grievances of the members and supporters of the party to ensure unity for effective work.

He called for cohesion between the party and government machinery to enable the two groups to present a unified front to the general public, adding the situation where one group made statements to counter what the other group had said indicated that there was something wrong with the channel of communication between the two groups. He appealed to some leading members of the party to be circumspect in what they say in public to avoid a situation where they would provide bullets for their opponents to shoot at them at a later date.
