NDC's Kwasi Ashiaman wins Buem seat

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate, Mr Kwasi Daniel Ashiaman has won the Buem constituency by-election in the Volta region.

He polled 9366 votes representing 84.68 percent of total valid votes.

Percentage turnout at the polls was 30.29 percent.

Other contestants Adams Darko Boateng from People's National Convention (PNC) polled 211 votes representing 1.91 percent and Ellis Akoto Ade of Progressive People's Party (PPP) polled 506 votes representing 4.58 percent.

The New Vision Party (NVP) candidate Alhaji Muniru of NVP got 251 representing 2.27 percent whiles the Convention People's Party (CPP) candidate, Nelson Asafo polled 726 votes representing 6.46percent.

Total valid votes were 11,060 out of the total votes cast of 11,247. 187 votes were rejected.

Ashiaman, 43, who is also a marketer replaces Henry Ford Kamel, who passed away on Christmas Day after winning the seat on the ticket of the NDC in the 2012 general elections.
