NDC constituency election results favor no flagbearer aspirant – Alabi campaign team

Anxious delegates at the Wa Central Constituency election Anxious delegates at the Wa Central Constituency election

The campaign team of Prof Joshua Alabi, one of the persons aspiring to be the flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), has reacted to what it claims is an erroneous publication as regards the implication of the recently held constituency election results.

The group in a statement released on Tuesday stated that “a newspaper publication which tried to portray that, the just ended NDC constituency election results tilts heavily in favour of one aspiring Presidential Candidate” should be treated with the contempt it deserves because “no single individual aspirant won the constituency elections as wrongly portrayed in the newspaper.”

Signed by one Israel Venunye, a member of the team, the statement called for unity among members of the NDC stressing that the outcome of the elections should propel the party to wrestle power from the ruling New Patriotic Party.

“In fact, the NDC as a political party won for itself, another milestone in entrenching the principles of democracy and intensive grassroots participation as a result of the Constituency elections. This is a victory for the party and not any individual Presidential Candidate. At a time that many are preaching unity in the party, one wonders why there is an attempt to show that some group of elected executives are on the list of one aspirant. This is the time for those who won their elections to be magnanimous in victory while those who lost should be gracious in defeat” it added.

PRESS STATEMENT

26th June, 2018

The attention of the Professor Joshua Alabi campaign team has been drawn to a news paper publication which tried to portray that, the just ended NDC constituency election results tilts heavily in favour of one aspiring Presidential Candidate.

We would like to assure the rank and file of the party, supporters and well wishers that no single individual aspirant won the constituency elections as wrongly portrayed in the newspaper.

In fact, the NDC as a political party won for itself, another milestone in entrenching the principles of democracy and intensive grassroots participation as a result of the Constituency elections. This is a victory for the party and not any individual Presidential Candidate.

At a time that many are preaching unity in the party, one wonders why there is an attempt to show that some group of elected executives are on the list of one aspirant. This is the time for those who won their elections to be magnanimous in victory while those who lost should be gracious in defeat.

We urge party members not to pay heed to such publications which only go a long way to spite those who were unfortunate to have lost their Constituency elections and further aggravate their plight. Those who profess their love for the NDC should be seen encouraging a united front and not divisions, because the party will need all hands on deck to succeed with the task ahead.

For the records, we are proud of all those who won as well as those who lost their constituency election bids. We take inspiration from the stated position of our leader, Prof. Joshua Alabi who has insisted at all times, that all contestants in the Constituency elections are leaders in their own rights, whether they won their positions or not.

The Prof Joshua Alabi campaign team continues to firmly believe in working together with all who contested in the elections, without any form of discrimination in order to achieve the much needed unity ahead of the 2020 general elections.

We wish to salute all contestants and we look forward to forging closer partnerships with them in our forward march to victory.

It is Possible Together! #Solution2020
