NDC Council of Elders urged to heal rift in the party

Kumasi, May 5, GNA - The Business Democrats, an association of traders aligned to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Kumasi, had appealed to the party's Council of Elders to act swiftly to address the intra-party rift. They said they had no doubt that the Council, made up of respected personalities, had the capacity to address all intra-party misunderstandings or conflicts to allow peace and harmony to prevail. This was contained in a statement signed by the Secretary, Mr Kwabena Ofori-Amanfo.

They said it should not be lost on anyone that the impasse between the founder and leader of the party, if allowed to continue, could divide the NDC and wreck its future. The group said they found it difficult to rationalize the cause of the present unfortunate development which was creating anxiety and fuelling apathy among some of the party loyalists. The group warned that the crisis was sending wrong signals not only to the NDC faithful but all peace-loving Ghanaians. They, however, urged all members and supporters to solidly rally behind the party flag and ensure peace to enable the party to retain political power in 2012. 5 May 11
