My desire to serve is my motivation - Hawa Yakubu

Accra, Dec. 16, GNA - An aspiring First Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Madam Hawa Yakubu, said her desire to contest for the position was to serve the people and rejuvenate the party at the grass root level, so as to win the 2008 elections.

"I was born to serve and that is what I will do with my life. To associate with the down trodden and make them feel a sense of belonging, so we can draw more people to our party and win the forth coming elections."

Madam Hawa Yakubu made these remarks when she interacted with journalists in Accra on her chances of winning the First Vice Chairman position in the forth-coming NPP delegates' congress on Saturday. Asked what she would do for the foot soldiers of the party, who seemed to be disappointed with the NPP government, Madam Yakubu said there was the possibility that these foot soldiers expectations had been too high, stressing that together with the elected leadership they would draw their attention to the opportunities that exist for these soldiers. Madam Hawa Yakubu said one of her cardinal objectives in seeking the position was to join her colleagues to ensure, that information on progress being made by the government, trickled down to the foot soldiers as well as step up the public relations machinery of the party.
