My 'classless' article not targeted at Socrate Safo - Francis Doku

Arts and entertainment analyst, Francis Doku has shot down assertions that his article on the ongoing social media campaign over who should be chosen as the deputy minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture was intended to denigrate filmmaker, Socrate Safo and his supporters.

After President Akufo-Addo announced Catherine Ablema Afeku, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Evalue Jomoro-Gwira as minister, two names [Socrate Safo and Kojo Antwi] have become resounding in the race for the deputy ministerial position.

An opinion piece by Mr. Doku published on graphic.com.gh in which he labeled the approach by some industry players to get their candidate appointed as 'classless', was described by supporters of Socrate Safo as 'senseless' as they thought it was a deliberate attempt to insult their integrity since they have been engaging in the social media campaign.

But the astute showbiz critic in an interview with Ghanaweb said his write-up only sought to criticise how people in creative arts were agitating.
