Minority leader questions exclusion of majority leader from cabinet

Minority leader has questioned President John Mahama’s exclusion of the majority leader from his cabinet.

Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu argued the majority leader heads government business in parliament and must necessarily be a cabinet minister.

“Mr Speaker, conspicuously missing from that list of cabinet ministers is the leader of government business in parliament…” he stated.

The minority leader raised the issue on the floor of the house Thursday, but was stopped by the speaker, Edward Doe-Adjaho who insisted the house must use appropriate means to address that question.

“Honourable, I agree that it is a very important observation but it remains an observation which maybe you may want to raise at another level at the appropriate time in the house if that is the thinking of the house,” Mr Adjaho said.
