Minister cautions youth to be watchful of selfish politicians

Bolgatanga, Dec.18 GNA- The Youth have been cautioned to be watchful of selfish politicians who would want to use them to satisfy their political egos at the expense of the nation.

The Deputy Upper East Regional Minister, Alhaji Awudu Yirimeah, sounded the caution at the weekend when he launched a non-governmental organization, Youth Mentoring Centre (YMC), in Bolgatanga.

The non-governmental organization would focus on inspiring the youth into excellence, promotion and restoration of preventive healthcare in the Telensi-Naddam District in the Upper East Region. The Minister explained that the Government recognized the youth as a forward match to the development of the nation and must therefore shun politicians who would want to use them to satisfy their parochial interest.

"Be mindful of politicians who lurk behind to influence you into wrongful acts", the Minister stressed. He said the introduction of the National Youth in Employment Programme by the Government showed the importance it attaches to the Youth and urged them to take advantage of the programme to enhance themselves by learning some vocation.

Launching the YMC, the Minister commended it for its laudable objectives and said it would complement Government's efforts in improving the human resource base of the country.

Alhaji Yirimeah pledged the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) support for YMC urged the Management and staff of YMC to work harder to enable the organization achieve its goals and aims.
