The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly called Chairman Wontumi, has said delegates of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) were "suffering from malaria", thus, ended up electing incompetent executives at the party’s just-ended National Delegates Congress at the Trade Fair Centre in Accra.

Speaking on the Kumasi Morning Show on Kumasi 104.1FM on Monday, 19 November 2018, Mr Boasiako said the newly-elected executives were the same people who led the party into opposition in the 2016 general elections, adding that the NPP is not scared of them.

He told show host Akwesi Agudey that the newly-elected Chairman, Mr Ofosu Ampofo, was the Director of Elections for the party in the 2016 general elections while the retained General Secretary, Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketia, was also at the helm of affairs in the same elections which the party lost with about one million votes.

The two executives, Chairman Wontumi said, were part of the failed executives and, so, wondered why they should pose any threat to the NPP in the 2020 elections.

For him, their election is a dream come true for the NPP since, in his view, their incompetence will make the NPP’s work easier in the 2020 polls.
