Maintenance of political stability is the duty of all citizens - Parliamentary aspirant

Mr. Iddrisu Musah 'Superior', New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary aspirant for Tamale Central, said on Monday that, the maintenance of political stability in Ghana is not the responsibility of political parties alone, but the entire citizenry.

He said the security agencies, Electoral Commission (EC), National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) and all state institutions that had the power to act and deal with issues per the laws of the country also had a major role to play.

Mr. Musah Superior who spoke in an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Accra, said Ghanaians must all resolve to be clean, positive and competitive in this year’s electioneering campaign, stressing that “vicious and vindictive" politics must be wiped out from the country’s political landscape.

“I am looking forward for a comprehensive debate with all Tamale Central parliamentary aspirants to showcase our visions, programmes and capacity to the good people of Tamale, and to let the world know that we are ready for an issue based contest."

He expressed the hope that the other aspirants will accept the challenge to engage in an issue based debate which, he noted, was an innovation in the political history of Tamale Central Constituency.

The NPP parliamentary aspirant stated that if elected MP for Tamale Central, he will implement a project to be known as "My Constituency, My Role," which would aim at encouraging all constituents to play positive roles to contribute towards the socio-economic development of the constituency.

He said modalities for the project would be widely discussed with the constituencies, adding that an effective consultation scheme would be worked out to seek the opinions and views of the people in the constituency.

Mr. Musah Superior, said the project would be supervised and managed by a non-partisan body and appealed to the people of Tamale to join hands in making this scheme a reality by electing him to parliament to serve the constituency.**
