Mahama appointee blew GHC39,000 on telephone bills for a month - Captain Smart

A former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) State Housing Company Limited (SHC) is reported to have blown GH¢39,000 as telephone bills for a month according to Adom Fm’s Captain Smart who spoke from the Auditor General’s report.

Though he will not name the official he said was appointed under the previous National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration, he disclosed that the amount is outrageous and called on the current government to live up to its mandate of protecting the national purse by demanding answers.

“A Chief Executive Officer of State Housing Company Limited (SHC) spent GH¢39,000 a month as his phone bills. That is the cost of calls he made in the company….it is not the current one but one under the previous administration”, he disclosed on his show Fabawoso monitored by MyNewsGh.com.

According to him, the explanation advanced by the unnamed official was that sometimes he finishes calls and forgets to hang up which accrued to the stated amount costing the country.

“Government of the day needs the courage to mete out the appropriate sanctions on such persons. You use the phone to call India and other countries and claim you forgot to hang up…that is serious sickness”, he disclosed.

The Broadcast Journalist is of the view the country is blessed with revenue but the leakages through politicians who do not have the country at heart are to blame for the poor state of the country it will run to Sinohydro for a $2 billion.

“The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) is raking a lot of money more than the paltry $2 billion dollars we are receiving from Sinohydro but we have made it easy for people to steal and end up saying there is no money. You live in the country where the Chief Executive receives belt hook allowance is that not madness and others take bottom allowance”, he revealed.
