Limited Registration: Police sack 'unaccredited' NDC Chairman from registration centre

"Please I can't allow you enter the registration grounds without accreditation sir. You need to show us your accreditation to be able to monitor proceedings here. Please do us a favour and step aside sir".

These were the words of the police officer on duty at the Asawase registration centre in Asokore Mampong Municipality of Ashanti Region, who ordered ‘unaccredited’ Regional Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Augustine Andrews to vacate the premises of the registration centre.

Party executives present at the registration centre tried to resist attempts by the security to kick their chairman out [But] law abiding Nana Akwasi left the scene to avert any other incident.

Constituency secretary in Asawase, Mugis Mahdi confirming the incident on Angel midday news, accused the police of being bias against the NDC, alleging that "the case was different when the New Patriotic Party Chairman visited the centre. All we heard was loud noise from party supporters and the next minute he was already monitoring and having chit chats with EC officials and security. He also didn't have accreditation, Is Wontumi better than our chairman?"

Mr. Mugis further explained that they have made formal complains to party leaders and regional police command to as a matter of urgency caution their officers to exhibit professionalism in their act.

"Oh! as for the police officers we have reported them to their commander, because we can't continue to allow them take us for granted -NO WAY".

All efforts to get chairman Augustine Nana Akwasi Andrews to speak on the matter has proved vain.
