Kwabena Agyei Agyepong has become a curse for the main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Adansi Asokwa Member of Parliament, K.T. Hammond has said.

Mr Hammond told Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen political talk show host Kojo Asare-Baffour Acheampong, popularly known as KABA, on Thursday that the General Secretary is creating a lot of confusion in the party through his actions.

He said Mr Agyepong’s insistence that a disqualified person be part of the party’s upcoming parliamentary primary is stirring trouble.

Mr Hammond expressed befuddlement about Mr Agyepong’s actions, which he said have brought nothing but confusion within the party.

“…If you go for a general secretary, who becomes a curse for the party, this is what happens,” he told KABA.

Mr Hammond’s aspersions against Mr Agyepong is the latest in a streak of recriminations that have see-sawed between the General Secretary and Chairman Paul Afoko on the one hand; and some top members and leaders of the party, on the other hand.

There has been no love lost between the two sides, since Mr Afoko and Mr Agyepong took reins of the party about a year ago.

Some party leaders and supporters are suspicious of the two national executives. They allege they are secretly working against the 2016 presidential ambition of three-time flagbearer Nana Akufo-Addo, as a way of paving the way for their preferred candidate in 2020.

The two politicians, on the other hand, have always said they are being treated as outcasts on purpose, even though, according to them, they mean well for Mr Akufo-Addo and the party.
