Former president Kufuor has stated that the suspension of two leading executives of the NPP, from the party two years ago was needless as such he was against it.

According to the former president, he was of the view that hiccups between the party and suspended General Secretary Kwabena Agyapong and its national chairman Paul Afoko could have been resolved without suspending them from the party.

Mr. Kwabena Agyapong and his second Vice Chairman of the party, Sammy Crabbe were suspended indefinitely after they publicly criticising the Disciplinary Committee of the party for sacking its chairman, Paul Afoko.

Speaking to Accra based Starr FM, former president Kufuor stated that he never supported the suspension.

“I wasn’t for the suspension of Kwabena Agyepong and Afoko in the first place, I was not for it. I was hoping what happened could have been resolved but things got out of hands and it’s my prayer that things are resolved”.

He also described as unconstitutional the continuous stay in suspension of the suspended executives.

“Of course, I think being on suspension for over two years is too long. I think our constitution doesn’t provide for that, it didn’t envisage the General Secretary of the party to be absent from his job for two years, it’s not there but I hope that good sense will prevail, I mean I’m happy with myself, I thank God for the heart that I have, I’m very content,” he said.
