I forgive Ofosu-Ampofo – Peace Council Chair

Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, National Chairman of NDC Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, National Chairman of NDC

The Chairman of the National Peace Council, Rev. Professor Emmanuel Asante, has stated that he forgives the national chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress, Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo if it is established that claims on the leaked tape were really from him.

Mr. Ofosu-Ampofo in the leaked audio told party communicators that “we’re going to take her [EC boss] to the cleaners.”

“As for the EC chair, we must wage a relentless war on this EC chair. Me, she doesn’t want to see my face,” Ofosu-Ampofo allegedly said at the meeting which took place after the Ayawaso by-election.

As part of strategic communication plans for the NDC going into the 2020 elections, Ofosu-Ampofo also gave his blessings for the communicators to verbally attack the Peace Council chairman Professor Emmanuel Asante.

He has, however, denied the claims on the tape describing it as a doctored tape. He is currently being investigated by the Police CID over the claims on the tape.

Speaking on Morning Starr on Thursday, March 7, Prof. Asante told host Francis Abban that he is not expecting an apology from the NDC chair because he has denied ownership of the voice on the tape.

“Why would Ofosu Ampofo call to apologize to me when it has not been confirmed that he said whatever is on the tape…what I mentioned is that if indeed he said what he said, I forgive him. I don’t need him to call me to apologize.”

Prof. Asante added that he has “received bashing from both parties before and so he is not worried hearing such comments.”
