The drills on the representatives of the six schools, namely; Barack Obama School, Association Community Model Basic School, St Joseph School, Top Ridge, Firm Foundation and Glorious Jesus School on their knowledge of the constitution of Ghana took place on October 26, 2018 at the University of Ghana Business School auditorium.

For the Senior High School level, 6 made it to the finals out of the 16 competing Senior High Schools. In the end, Conquerors Academy Business School won the contest.

Cowbellpedia, organized by the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) in collaboration with Cowbell, is aimed at educating students on their civic rights embedded in the 1992 constitution.

Cowbellpedia has been in existence for the past three years and stakeholders involved hope it progresses from the regional level to the national level.

The Greater Accra Regional Secretary, Lucille Hewlett Annan said the programme aims at enhancing students’ knowledge on the content of the 1992 constitution and apply it in their daily lives.

“NCCE was primarily brought into existence by the 1993 constitution. Part of our mandate is to educate people on the content of the 1992 constitution and defend it. That is why we have this quiz so that they know what is in the constitution, then they can defend it against any form of abuse,” she said.

She added that, cowbellpedia has boosted the confidence of students, which is evident in how students speak for their rights enshrined in the 1992 constitution.

In an interview with Ghanaweb, the Director, Science Education Unit at the Ghana Education Service, Mr Andrews K. Quaning mentioned that the Ghana Education Service is reviewing the curriculum of the basic schools adding that activities like robotics, assembling of robots, programming, coding, among others will be included.

He added that, GES has started this project in 25 senior high schools to change the interface of how science and maths is taught in schools.

In the spirit of sportsmanship, the winners entreated their contenders to learn harder and come fully prepared for the next edition.
