Ghanaians urged not to be complacent about the nation’s peace

Ghanaians have been urged not to be complacent with the nation’s peace but rather work hard to protect it, to avoid going the way of other African countries.

Mr Kwasi Temeng, Birim North District Director of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) said this during the inauguration of the District’s 21- member Inter-Party Dialogue Committee at New Abirem on Monday.

The committee has Nana Twum Barimah, Abirem Akwamuhene, as Chairman, Reverend Paul Nti, Vice- Chairman, Mr Kwasi Temeng, Secretary, Mr Michael Agyiri, Assistant Secretary and Nana Otibu Boakye, Abirem Juabenhene, as Treasurer.

Mr Temeng appealed to the political parties to educate their supporters on the code of conduct for the election to ensure peace.

He said the committee would act as a shield in the Abirem constituency to stem the unnecessary suspicion and anxiety among political parties.

Mr Temeng charged them to monitor violations like defacing of posters, biased media reportage, use of provocative and abusive language by the political parties and their members.

Nana Twum Barimah said transparent elections were a responsibility of all stakeholders.**
