Ghanaians are watching NPP - Okudzeto Ablakwa

A former Deputy Minister and incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) has taken on government for what he described as an outrageous number of ministers and their deputies nominated by President Nana Akufo-Addo to serve in his government.

“Ghanaians are far awake to take note of the size of NPP government. The number is very worrying and quite dangerous and also does not inspire confidence in the government to deliver its campaign promises”, he said

The former Deputy Information Minister and the Education in the erstwhile National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration has suggested seal on the size of number of appointees a President must form in government and therefore proposed a bill to parliament for deliberation and consideration.

Government confirmed fifty deputies’ ministers and four ministers of State members in addition to approved 46 despite calls to cut down the numbers in government to save state resources.

MPs from the minority in parliament and section of Ghanaians including a political Science Lecturer at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kwasi Amakye Boateng have accused government of over bloating government.

But government through the Information Minister has a mounted a strong defense saying “it is not the leanness or bigness of the government that determines its output and its ultimate performance …It is about the results at the end of the day”

Bud Mr Okudzeto Ablakwa has indicated that Ghanaians who are the ultimate judges are watching and when the time is ripe they will speak about the injustice meted out to them by the current government.
