Professor Kwasi Opoku-Amankwa, Director-General of the Ghana Education Service Professor Kwasi Opoku-Amankwa, Director-General of the Ghana Education Service

The Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES) has said heads of senior high schools will not be allowed to exceed the intake of students after requesting a specific quota under the free education policy.

According to Professor Kwasi Opoku-Amankwa, an audit team will be deployed to the schools to assess their accommodation statuses before allowing them to admit the numbers they requested for.

He says the move is meant to lessen the financial burden on government since it will take care of qualified students under the policy.

Professor Opoku-Amankwa was addressing a news conference on Thursday, May 18 after a three-day dialogue session with regional, metropolitan, municipal, and district directors of education as well as other stakeholders in the sector on the implementation of government’s educational policies in Kumasi.

The Director General is also calling for a concerted effort to ensure the policy succeeds.
