Dr Ahmed presents learning materials to 25 schools in Ayawaso

Dr Mustapha Ahmed, Member of Parliament for Ayawaso East and Deputy Minister of Environment, Science and Technology, has presented learning materials to 25 Junior High Schools in the Ayawaso Sub-Metropolitan Area.

The items estimated at about GH¢3,800 included 10 cartons each of pens, erasers, rulers and 11 cartons of mathematical sets, to adequately equip final year students as they prepared for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

Presenting the items, Dr Ahmed entreated the students to appreciate the value of time and make good use of it and desist from all examination malpractices.

He said, the NDC Administration led by President John Evans Atta Mills as part of its commitment towards girls education, had put in place a policy to award scholarships to students who aspired to pursue Science and Mathematics in the Second-cycle and Tertiary level.

Dr Ahmed explained that, the distribution of free laptops to secondary and tertiary students in the country was a clear demonstration of President Mills' administration to make education accessible to all and sundry.

He congratulated parents and teachers for their diverse efforts in preparing the candidates and commended the East Ayawaso Sub-Metro Education Committee for working tirelessly to improve the standard of education within the constituency.

Mrs Margaret Asare, Circuit Supervisor of Ayawaso District Education Unit, thanked Dr Ahmed for the kind gesture and expressed their willingness to work with him to improve educational standards in the constituency.

She advised the candidates to take their studies serious as the examination was fast approaching.**
