Blame Ashanti Ministers, MPs for Ashanti Region woes, not Nana Addo – Ken Agyapong

President Akufo-Addo’s appointees in the Ashanti Region are to blame for the discontent reportedly brewing among sections of the Ashanti Region’s loyal support base of the ruling New Patriotic Party.

And this, according to Ken Agyapong, NPP MP for Assin Central, is because the Ministers and CEOs of Ashanti origin appointed by President Akufo-Addo are not doing enough for which reason the people tend to blame Akufo-Addo instead of the ministers, MPs and CEOs from their region.

In an interview monitored by on Adom TV Badwam, Ken Agyapong said Akufo-Addo has been very fair with the Ashanti Region by giving them key positions in his government and people must be fair to him.

He began by saying government was doing a lot for the people of Ghana, particularly in terms of employment but it is not being communicated to the people of Ghana because he experienced complaints from the Ashanti Region.

He said the people were unfairly complaining about Akufo-Addo appointees from the region not being enough.

But according to him, “It is an unfair statement against Akufo-Addo. The agitation going on in Ashanti Region against Akufo-Addo is totally wrong” he said.

He mentioned names of Ministers he believes hail from the region, urging the people to shift their attention to them.

“One word they used, and I won’t use it here, that word made me angry and I won’t repeat it here. They must be fair to the President. I have to mention them because they want to disgrace the man. They (Ashanti Ministers and CEOs) must hold a forum to address the issue.. It is affecting the party seriously”, Mr Ken Agyapong pointed out.

“If you have 10 ministers in the Ashanti Region and you say your road is not good, do you blame Akufo-Addo?” He quizzed.

“Then you sit and blame Akufo-Addo … nobody in Ashanti Region should blame Akufo-Addo if nothing is going on… They should deal with their ministers, they should not blame Akufo-Addo” he said.

MPs from Ashanti Region take region for granted

Followers of will recall that we reported that private legal practitioner and member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Lawyer Yaw Boafo said MPs from the Ashanti Region are clueless and not helping the region because they take the people for granted.

He said the MPs from the Ashanti have failed to advance the course of the region which has resulted in the sorry state of roads in the region in particular.

Speaking on Kumasi-based Pure FM flagship political program ‘Bresosem’ with Dr. Addai Mensah (Dean Allied Health Sciences, KNUST) monitored by, the NPP stalwart and the son of a former Ashanti Regional Minister, SK Boafo indicated that, the politicians most especially the NPP legislators from the Ashanti region have done nothing for the people in the region and have continuously taken residents [Ashanti people] for granted.

He remarked that the people from Ashanti Region have been discriminated against on all scales including job applications and roads infrastructure yet the NPP claims the region is its stronghold challenging them to prove it.

‘How can you do that? they have taken us for granted for far too long yet our politicians look on. Doc, the time has come for us all to start demanding something for our votes. Look at our roads. This is shameful especially when we are their vote bank’. He lamented.

Ken Agyapong over the week visited the region for a funeral and experienced the concerns of the people first-hand, for which reason he has been talking since.
