The Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who was seen in a video taking a walk on the streets of London with his wife, Samira Bawumia, on Saturday, has left further doubts in the minds of the Ghanaian.

Many have also said, Dr. Bawumia and his handlers, could have done this better by showing him reading the day’s newspapers or showing him watching a live football match on TV.

For instance his favourite football team; Tottenham Hotspurs – according to Gabby Asare-Octchere Darko – played League Two side Newport in an FA Cup on Saturday, and this could have been a good time to show a relaxed Dr. Bawumia at home in London, enjoying the game.

Pictures and a video circulating on social media showed Dr. Bawumia, taking a stroll with his wife Samira Bawumia on London’s Oxford Street.

But firstly, many are doubting, when the video was made, and by whom.

Secondly, Dr. Bawumia, was alone with his wife, leaving people wondering the whereabouts of his aides and security details.

Thirdly, the video was made to show how Dr. Bawumia is fast recovering from his recent ailment, but he did not speak in the video thanking and assuring his well-wishers about his medical condition, thus creating additional uncertainty on the date of the video.

Fourthly, neither Dr. Bawumia nor his wife spoke in the video stating the date of their possible return to Ghana, although some insiders have mentioned Wednesday as the date of his return.

At a point in the video, which can be viewed, the Second Family stops to interact with a Ghanaian national who runs over to greet them.

The Ghanaian who ran to greet them identified himself as Christian Asante. Some media houses in Ghana, have described the man as a security officer at a Primark store on the Oxford Street.

Dr. Bawumia left Ghana for the United Kingdom two Fridays agoon medical leave after the Presidency, revealed that he had been taken ill earlier in the day, and was undergoing medical tests.

The Information Minister, Mustapha Hamid, later added that the decision to fly Dr. Bawumia to the UK, was to ensure that he was kept away from visitors, who may disturb his rest and recuperation period.

Prior to these pictures coming out, Samira Bawumia offered some assurances concerning the recovery of the Vice President, saying her husband was “doing very well” and looking “forward to returning to work soon.”

Before Samira Bawumia’s statement, Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, described as a close associate of the Vice President, said he was recovering fast from his illness.

Gabby posted a short Facebook comment to suggest that the Vice President is in good health and resting and not in a hospital as many have been made to think, but at a decent flat in London.

“I’m in London and have had opportunities to spend some good, jovial and intellectual sweet moments with Dr Bawumia but far from the view of any nurse or doctor; in some small, decent flat he has rented for the very short time he is away here on leave,” he wrote on his Facebook Timeline.

The Information Ministry, had said the Vice President was doing well and would resume official duties only when his physicians allowed him to do so.

Details of the Vice President’s illness, remains a closely guarded secret.
