Ayisi Boateng worried about attempts to cause disunity in NPP

Kumasi, March 23, GNA - Mr George Ayisi Boateng, a founding member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), had condemned what he said were attempts by some members of the party to cause disunity and wreck its chances of winning political power in 2012.

He wondered why genuine members of the party should form blocs and consider an idea of projecting certain individuals other than the chosen flag-bearer.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency in Kumasi, Mr Ayisi Boateng said it was disheartening that instead of supporting the NPP's Presidential Candidate, some people were rather doing everything to undermine him. "Is it that these people are bent on derailing our movement to win back power in 2012 or what are the reasons for that?" he asked. Mr Ayisi Boateng identified disunity as one of the reasons that made the NPP to loose power in 2008.

He said it was therefore 93unthinkable that at this point in time when Ghanaians are yearning for the return of NPP, our front should be divided."

The flag-bearer and the leadership had been harping on the need for unity and it behoved all true members not to allow selfishness, hatred and animosity to create cracks in the party.

Mr Ayisi Boateng said Ghanaians had suffered enough under the Mills Administration and warned that posterity would never forgive NPP if it allowed divisiveness to ruin it.

He appealed to all those nursing any destructive agenda to have a change of heart and with unity of purpose, work to give the NPP resounding victory in next year's presidential and parliamentary elections.
