The Member of Parliament (MP) for Ashaiman, Henry Ernest Norgbey, has urged members of the Ashaiman Municipal Assembly (ASHMA) to give the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) nominee, Albert Boakye Okyere, overwhelming endorsement.

He explained that massively endorsing the MCE nominee once would help tackle challenges confronting residents in the Municipality.

According to him, the president believes in the abilities of the nominee.

The MP made the appeal at a Town Hall Meeting, which was themed, ‘Deepening citizen participation in governance’ at Ashaiman.’

The legislator used the programme to interact with his constituents and devise ways of addressing their concerns.

The constituents raised concerns about sanitation, drainage system, road network and education.

Mr. Norgbey said that the President had reposed confidence in Mr. Okyere and therefore appealed to members of the assembly to endorse him to confront challenges of the municipality for its overall development.

On his part, the Ashaiman MCE nominee, Albert Boakye Okyere, stated that owing to congestion in the Municipality, there was the need for proper land usage among all stakeholders to reverse the worrying trend.

He also touched on the tension created in the area by some youth of the party, who opposed his nomination, saying “it is normal in every human endeavour.”

According to him, he would meet with the youth to share his vision and convince them to buy into it.
