Allegation of destruction of Bekwai NPP office was false

Bekwai (Ash), April 2, GNA - Speculations that the Amansie East constituency office of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) was destroyed after Mr Joe Osei-Owusu had filed his papers to contest the primary. Nana Yaw Nketiah, the Constituency Youth Organiser, told the GNA at Asante-Bekwai on Monday that nothing of the sort happened and nothing had been destroyed in the office.

There were rumours that supporters of the aspiring candidate destroyed the office after the ceremony.

Nana Nketiah, together with the First Vice-Chairman, Mr Gyamfi Brempong and some of the executives who were present at the function said he was surprised on hearing about the allegations and said Mr Osei-Owusu and his supporters left the party office immediately after the ceremony.

He called on disgruntled party supporters who are sowing disunity and confusion in the constituency to desist from such practices as it does not augur well for the growth of the party. Nana Nketia appealed to supporters of the two aspiring candidates to conduct their campaigns in a peaceful manner devoid of insults and intimidations. Mr Osei-Owusu, Chief Executive Officer of the Driver, Vehicle and Licensing Authority (DVLA) and Mr Kofi Adusei Poku, the Member of Parliament (MP), are contesting the primary.
