Akufo-Addo presents 84 vehicles to Ghana Armed Forces

President Akufo-Addo on Thursday handed over 84 vehicles to the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) at the Abugah Square, Gondar Barracks – Burma camp.

Speaking at the commissioning, President Akufo-Addo said the presentation of vehicles was in fulfilment of a pledge made to the GAF at this year’s WASSA.



The president recounted how, in February this year, he gave the GAF 50 ANKAI Buses, and 40 Toyota Landcruiser Hardbody Vehicles, 50 Toyota Hilux Pickups, which formed part of the first tranche of 138 staff and operational vehicles of various categories.

“Today, I am here to present to you, 33 armoured personnel carrier, 41 assorted Toyota vehicles, 3 water tankers, 1 self-loading recovery truck, 1 refrigeration van and 5 utility vehicles for waste disposal and management, he added.

The vehicles which will serve the military is the third project being commissioned by the president at the camp.

Ghana, the President stressed, cannot achieve the growth of her economy that will provide the Ghanaian people with a dignified standard of living without peace and stability.



He therefore assured the security bureau that the Government is not relenting in its efforts at transforming the Ghana Armed Forces into a formidable body, and we will continue to help enhance the capabilities of the Armed Forces in the development of our nation.

Alos the Minister of Defence Dominic Nitiwul touted the achievements of the current government with regards to the military developments.

“Your Excellency, the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has benefited immensely during the last three years under your government through the various interventions to improve conditions of the officers, men, women and civilian employees of Ghana Armed Forces and most especially the working efficiency of personnel”.
