Akufo-Addo Donates 243 Motorbikes To NPP

Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, a New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential aspirant, has donated 243 brand motorbikes to the party to facilitate the mobility of party officials in the performance of their duties.

Each of the 230 constituency offices of the party would receive one motorbike, one for each regional office and three for the national headquarters.

Presenting the motorbikes at a brief ceremony at the party’s headquarters in Accra, Nana Akufo-Addo, who is also the Member of Parliament (MP) for Abuakwa, said he had undertaken a nationwide tour to test the waters, with regard to his presidential ambition.

He said in all the 230 constituencies that he visited, even in the urban constituencies, the complaints of the executives were lack of means of transportation.

Nana Akufo-Addo said it was to help ameliorate the situation and re-equip the party at all levels for the big struggle ahead that he was providing the motorbikes.

Nana Akufo-Addo said he purchased the motorbikes from his own resources and with the support of some friends.

Receiving the bikes, the National Chairman of the NPP, Mr Peter Mac Manu, on behalf of the party, thanked Nana Akufo-Addo for the donation and said the motorbikes had come handy.

This, he said, was because over the last few weeks the party had started electing parliamentary candidates for constituencies where it had no sitting MPs, and that the gesture would go a long way to make the executive mobile.

He promised that the executives would put the motorbikes to good use for the benefit of the party, especially “to fertilise the political terrain for the NPP so that the party’s presidential candidate for the 2008 race would meet a party that is re-energised to win the 2008 elections.

He also promised that the national executive would work assiduously to make the congress, especially the elections, free, fair and transparent.
