Ahiakpor gets the nod of Asuogyaman assembly members

Atimpoku, April 16, GNA - The Asuogyaman District Assembly on Thursday became the first to confirm the President's nominee for the District Chief Executive post under the National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration. Mr Johnson Ahiakpor, 48, an accountant with the West African Examination Council (WAEC), polled 28 votes out of the 42 cast representing 66.7 percent to become the first DCE to be confirmed under President John Atta Mills' administration. Mr Ahiapkor assured the people that his doors would be opened to all and urged the people irrespective of their political affiliations to come together and support his administration for speedy development of the area. Earlier, the assembly elected Mr Seth Okai Ntoni, 62, a retired Manager of the Anum Rural Bank, as the Presiding Member. He polled 31 votes representing 71.5. The Regional Minister, Mr Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, thanked the people of Asuogyaman for confirming the nominee and called on them to work together as a team to address the socio-economic challenges facing the people. 16 April 09
