The Minister of Health, Hon. Sherry Ayittey is calling on Ghanaians to acknowledge efforts of persons who died fighting for the country.

Her comments come on the back of the 32nd anniversary of the 31st December revolution which led to the loss of lives and the ousting of then President, Dr. Hilla Liman, for economic mismanagement by the Provisional National Defence Council (PNDC).

The revolution led by former President John Rawlings was believed to be against corruption and injustices of the time.

In an interview with Citi News after the commemoration ceremony on Tuesday, Mad. Sherry Ayittey said the ceremony was to remember the gallant men and women who toiled and shed their blood to build Ghana.

According to her, despite the struggles, Ghana has come a long way from a republic into a democracy with the help of our gallant men and women. Therefore, it is important that “we continue in what they left behind for us to build this nation.”

Meanwhile, the ceremony was attended by just a hand full of people as Former President Rawlings was also absent.
