K-Balm Armwrestling challenge: Tahiru wins big, MP beats Policeman

Tahiru Haruna was adjudged the overall winner of the K-Balm Armwrestling Challenge held at the forecourt of the KofiKrom Pharmacy in Accra on Saturday, 14th April 2018.

The competition which was organized by the Greater Accra Armwrestling Association (GACA) saw Tahriu showed style and steel to defeat Randolph Welbeck in the finals of the men 91 kilograms category.

Alberta Frimpong of the Ghana Police Service was the biggest winner in the female category, conquering Mary Aryeetey in the finals of the female 80KG category.

Tahiru Haruna in an interaction with the media after his victory, declared his excitement with a promise to work hard and win more laurels in future events.

“I’m very very excited and I thank Allah for making me win this competition. I always knew I was going to win because I’m the African champion. Last year in Nigeria I won two gold medals for Ghana so I always believed in myself. I train regularly for this and I’m glad my hard work has paid off”,

The CEO of KofiKrom Pharmacy, Kofi Addo Agyekum who doubles as the President of the Greater Accra Armwrestling Association expressed satisfaction with the competition.

Kofi Addo Agyekum is hopeful that the competition will improve the national team ahead of the 2018 Africa Armwrestling championship.

“I’m happy with what I saw. We are hopeful this process will continue so that we recruit more our youth who could not participate in today’s event. The media did well to promote the championship and we are grateful for their support. It was a fantastic event and I enjoyed myself and I pray that other also did. Hopefully, we can recruit very formidable and very competent athletes for the next Africa championship”, he said.

MP beats Policeman

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Ledzokuku constituency, Dr Bernard Oko-Boye exhibited great armwrestling skills to defeat one of the Policemen who turned up for the competition.

The lawmaker drew applause from the crowd as he stunningly pulled off a remarkable victory over the policeman.
