Hockey League: Exchequers, Police Ladies on rampage

Exchequers and Police Ladies went on a rampage at the Theodosia Okoh Hockey Stadium on Saturday, September 8 as they massacred their respective opponents with a total goal haul of 20 to breath fire on the male and female teams of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) to keep their title aspirations on course.

While Exchequers demolished Legon Knights 7-0 to close the gap between them and league leaders GRA Men, Police Ladies disciplined Real Ambassadors Ladies 11-0 to put pressure on league leaders, GRA Ladies, who extinguished Extinguishers with a 2-0 victory.

A brace by Martha Sarfoa and Faustina Aggrey, and a hat-trick by Cecilia Amoako, as well as a goal each by Evelyn Fiador, Umaru Nafisatu, Jennifer Konadu and Boakye Serwaa were all what Police Ladies needed to keep the heat on GRA Ladies, who also maintained their winning ways.

Earlier last Friday, GRA Ladies also won 2-0 against Extinguishers Ladies to maintain their lead in the women’s division of the Sapholda Hockey League.

Goals by evergreen Lydia Afriyie and Ernestina Coffie were enough for GRA Ladies to be on course of defending the trophy they won last year.

In the other women’s match, Reformers Ladies reformed Ark Ladies with the lone goal scored by Theresa Mills in the 14th minute of the first quarter

In the Men’s division, Exchequers took advantage of the 0-0 draw between league leaders GRA and Police to overpower Legon Knights with a 7-0 victory.


It was Elikem Akaba and Ebenezer Arthur’s brace, as well as a goal each by Nicholas Nyarko, Selorm Kemevor, and Eric Dzotsi that won the day for the title aspirants, who have now become one of the forces of the Men’s division of the attractive league.

In the other Men’s division, Ark Men fell to Reformers Men 0-2, and in the Masters game, Golden Sticks defeated Multistix 4-3, with Citizens defeating NDK Financiers 5-1.

At the youth level, Kasoa Heroes shared the points with Ark Boys with a 0-0 draw, while Real Ambassadors defeated Tema Manhean with a 3-0 victory.
