Former spokesperson for the Ministry of Health, Tony Goodman, has confirmed the Michigan Aerospace Manufacturers Association (MAMA) ‘deal’ with the ministry and that the project wouldn’t have caused Ghana a dime.

He noted that, per the project, the country just had to allocate lands for the 10 regional emergency centers and other health facilities.

President Nana Akufo-Addo and the Health Minister, Kwaku Agyeman Manu on Wednesday denied knowledge of the existence a 2015 Ministry of Health report, which details steps and actions taken by the previous government to build 10 regional emergency centers and other health facilities.

Mr. Bismark Brown, host of Atinka TV’s Ghana Nie who was at the Presidential Encounter at the Jubilee House, Wednesday asked the Akufo-Addo whether he was aware that the Health Ministry had approached the Michigan Aerospace Manufacturers Association (MAMA) in the USA to assist Ghana, which had been named the Ebola Command Center, by building 10 regional emergency with ambulance each, provide the country with two helicopters for medical supplies all together with unmanned humanitarian vehicles (drones) for the supply of vaccines and samples in case of an outbreak.

However, President Akufo-Addo denied knowledge of the existence of such a report when the question was posed to him. The reinforcement from his Minister of Health, Kwaku Agyeman Manu muddied the waters since he also failed to offer an appropriate response to Bismark Brown’s well-researched question.

Speaking to Kaakyire Ofori Ayim on Atinka AM Drive Thursday, Tony Goodman stated that a piece of land at Mankessin in the Central Region was allocated to the Ministry of Health for the sod-cutting in August 2016.

He added that the sod cutting ceremony was, however, postponed due to the impending election in 2016.
