A technical Officer at the World Health Organization in Geneva Ms. Nana Afriyie Mensah-Abrampah has said the myth revolving quality healthcare is that it is expensive.

She said many people do not accept or practice quality healthcare because they have a perception that it is very expensive. She advised that "if you think quality healthcare is expensive, try not providing quality".

Ms. Mensah-Abrampah said this in a panel discussion at a summit organized by the Africa Institute of Healthcare Quality, Safety and Accreditation (AfiHQSA) in collaboration with the International Society of Quality in Healthcare (ISQua). The two (2) days summit was organized at the Coconut Groove Hotel in Accra from 17th to 18th of June, 2019.

The summit was on the theme "Transforming and Navigating Healthcare Quality and Safety into the Future". It was attended by experienced healthcare quality experts and other healthcare practitioners both locally and internationally passionate about making a difference in improving care outcomes.

One of the objectives of the summit was to equip participants with the requisite skills and competencies towards institutionalizing the culture of quality in healthcare in Ghana and the continent.
