New Abirem health centre moves to new building

New Abirem, Aug. 4, GNA - The New Abirem Health Centre has moved to its new spacious buildings which are located near where it has been operating since 1973. At a ceremony to commemorate the occasion at New Abirem in the Birim North District of the Eastern Region, the District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr. Napoleon Amoako-Asiamah, commended the staff of the hospital for their continued commitment, dedication and sacrifices, which have seen the growth of the facility to its present status. Mr. Asiamah urged them to exhibit professionalism in the discharge of their duties and exercise restraint towards their clients. He gave the assurance that the assembly would continue to offer all the necessary assistance to the facility to ensure quality health care delivery to the people.

The District Director of Health Services, Mr. Tei Djangmah, stated that moving to the new buildings was opportune since there was not enough space to cope with the increasing number of clients at the present site. Mr. Djangmah indicated that from January to December 2008, out-patients Department attendance was 28,890, and that by the end of June this year, 11,493 patients had visited the hospital. He said the new buildings have enough rooms to accommodate all the various departments of the hospital. What was left, Mr. Djangmah stressed, were an X-Ray machine, additional laboratory and theatre equipment to make the facility fully operational as a district hospital. The Abiremhene, Nana Amo Kyeretwie I, gave the assurance that he and his people would continue to partner the health Centre to ensure its growth to a first class district hospital in the future for the benefit of the people. Nana Amo Kyeretwie appealed to the assembly, NGOs and the Ministry of Health to help in the provision of accommodation for a Medical Officer and other health staff, as well as all the necessary equipment, to make the facility begin to operate fully as a hospital.
