Group presents cash to NTC to repair leaking roof

Members of Nurses Training College, (NTC) group C26 on Monday, March 25, 2019, presented an amount of 20,000 GHC towards the re-roofing of the demonstration room, A.K.A the “demo room” or the skills laboratory at the Korle Bu Nurses Training College, NTC.

The roof of the Demonstration room was detected to be leaking after new equipment donated by group C13 were put up there recently . The demo room is a vital pivot for the training of nurses and midwives.

Amanda Bruce Cathline presented the money on behalf of the group. Other members of the group at the presentation were Dora Odamtten Sowah, Leticia Amengor,Joyce Dodoo, Veronica Amedor,Agnes Laryea, Gloria Gorleku,Elizabeth Noah and Bernice Mensah.

Amanda assured the management of the school that members were willing to help their Alma matter once they heard of the predicament.

“Afterall, NTC made us who we are today so we did not hesitate to extend a hand of help when called upon” Amanda emphatically stated.

Receiving the money, the Principal, of the College, Mrs. Theresa Segbefia expressed her appreciation by explaining that this is the first roofing since the structure was built some 73 years ago.

According to Mrs. Segbefia, a trainee nurse must be proficiently certified on the dummies and other training equipment before they can go the wards or the hospital, clinics etc. to work with patients under a licensed Registered Nurse.

She added that the “demo room” train both regular registered nurses for their 3-year diploma course and the certification of student midwives.

After the presentation, members of the group went to the demonstration room and observed trainee nurses passing nasogastric tube, that is, a tube passed through one of a patient’s nostrils to help feed the patient or prepare the patient for surgery etc. and many other training procedures.
