Atwima Nwabiayga registers 139,422 clients under NHIS

Nkawie (Ash), Aug. 19, GNA - The Atwima-Nwabiagya District office of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) has so far registered 139,422 people under the programme.

Mr James Agyarko Poku, District Scheme Manager, who made this known to newsmen at Nkawie said 26,956 of them were card bearing clients. The remaining 26,956 are awaiting the delivery of their cards. He said the district was facing some challenges with the new data collection and the fact that automatically renewed cards were still lying at the offices due to printing problems with the pictures and dates of birth.

Another area of concern, Mr Agyarko Poku said, was to do with claims that cannot be vetted electronically.

Mr Chris Mac Quansah, Head of Information Management System of the scheme, appealed to the clients to co-operate with the district office in accessing their health insurance in an atmosphere of peace and understanding.

Meanwhile the district office has embarked on a programme under which clients could take delivery of their insurance cards at their doorsteps.
