By George Osei

Enterprising amateur golfer, Martin Osei won the second season event of the MTN sponsored Spoons golf tourney underway at the Celebrity Golf Club, Sakumono.

The series is opened to members of the club and features 64 of the best players that the club has to offer as they do battle over a period in a match play singles competition to determine the winner.

Osei, who has improved his game lately, came up tops in the last quarter event which ended last Saturday and was presented with a trophy and souvenirs from the sponsors, telecommunication giants MTN Ghana.

He said this is only the beginning as he plans to dominate on the game this season with an eye on winning the major events including the Ghana Open which this year would be played at Sakumono.

?This was my dream at the start of the year?, he said, believing his six years experience of playing the game, has put him in good stead to become a dominant figure.

Bruce Porter finished second behind the season two winner with Tim Monk taking third position in a highly competitive field.

Later, CEO of MTN Ghana, Michael Ipkoki said he outfit is committed towards the development of golf nationwide, and that they would soon lay out a programme to that effect.

He added that MTN will continue to partner the Celebrity Golf Club including the hosting of the Spoons competition which has become one of the high profile events on the calendar of the club.

The telecommunication giants will partner the Celebrity Golf club to host the prestigious Ghana Open in September this year where the very best from Ghana and beyond would gather.

It promises to be a momentous occasion and this according to Mr. Ipkoki is part of their efforts geared towards the promotion and development of the game at all levels.
